TPU 3D Hot Stamping is a new textile printing application in which patterns are printed onto the TPU film by the UV machine and then hot stamped onto the textiles, which features the multi-layer white ink stack to achieve the 3D effect enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the textiles.
The application uses the representative models, the H6090EI and H6090EP. The small flatbed UV printers are equipped with 3 high-precision Epson print heads (I3200-U1 or I1600-U1 model) that is a best option for the small and creative advertising studio. Also, it provides the perfect 3D effect and color performance to bring the unique textile ideas to life.
The first step of TPU 3D Hot Stamping involves printing intricate and imaginative patterns on a special material — the TPU film. It's a multi-layer material for textiles where each layer undertakes different functions, which consists of a bottom transparent PET layer, a middle grey hot melt adhesive layer and an upper white TPU base layer. The PET layer not only protects the hot melt layer without getting dirty before use, but also avoids high temperature damage to the printed layer when the film is pressed; the hot melt adhesive layer acts as glue to stick the printed TPU film to textiles with strong adhesion; and the TPU base layer that offers toughness, weather resistance, impact resistance, and UV aging resistance provides flexibility and durability to meet textiles' features.
Once the printing is finished, the 3D effect stands out with stunning varnish, which will greatly enhance the textiles' appearance and designs' appeal. The simple patterns are upgraded to a 3D effect with high-brightness, which is a bold breakthrough in textile printing. In the cutting step, we can use auto or manual cutting. Auto cutting is carried out precisely and efficiently by a cutting plotter which cuts the printed film along the edge of the pattern, and there are smooth edges without needless excess film. If you don't have a cutting plotter, manual cutting is another option, but the results are less meticulous when dealing with complex patterns. In no time, we'll get a complete hot stamping label film like a sticker. Next, we can get ready to transfer it onto textiles including T-shirts, caps, jeans and so on.
It's time for the last crucial step: heat pressing. To achieve the best results, we need to preheat the textile for 3-10 seconds before transfer, which helps to eliminate moisture on the textile's surface and improves adhesive penetration between the textile and the label film. The label film from which the PET layer has been peeled off is placed on the textile. Don't forget to cover it with the PET layer to protect the printed layer from high heat. After using the heat press machine for 10-20 seconds, it's well done. The hot pressing step is to fully release the stickiness of the hot melt adhesive layer, so that the label film adheres firmly to the textile.
